Hello Porter my man:

Somehow I lost and couldn't find this response of yours until just now.... just not that savvy withg the ole black box here. So, sorry for the late reply.

But, how are the conditions in your area today (3-28-08) or other areas in the arrowhead region. I have a few people from the Indiana area that want to come up and test ride the 09' BLADE snowmobiles. I can find some 1-2 mile runs around here and/or jump on any of the lakes but thats not enough to get the full feel of what BLADEs are about. I would like to make an afternoon of riding if possible

Let me know Pal.

Hey David, It's Porter from the North Pole HA.. The North Shore Trail from Two Harbors to Finland is holding up Nicely. A little thin in spots from the warm weather but got some more Snow recently... The trails around Silver Bay and Finland are also good.. The Timber Wolf (Power line) From Finland to the Tomohawk is great. Yukon from Isabella to Hwy#2 parking lot also in Good condition. The Clubs and State are doing a great job grooming.. Grand Marais (the Gunflint) got 2-3' of new stuff heard good things from that area.. Not the Range but thought you'd like a report from this area.. Gotta get You and Garrard out for a fun ride instead of work ride sometime soon eh....
Later JIM

The Ranger snowmobile/atv club will be helping out at the Pepsi Challenge on the 19th, this is great, to mix skiers and snowmobilers. We service all the food stations, and brining crews to each place, and we get to ride the slopes leagally, it is also a great way to introduce new people to the fun of snowmobiling and to be a really useful service to this great event. Stop by our website at www.rangersnowmobileatvclub.org for more info about our club and it's members.

Hello Tim:

Great to hear, I just love new comers... sometimes they’re the most appreciative riders you come across... full of enthusiasm and raring for more. I've always said that if a fella wants to get more riding in then get your spouse and family involved. The problem with this thought was snowmobiles to a large degree did not ride or handle all that well... especially for the novice riders. Well, we took care of that dilemma in the 90’s with the introduction of the M-10 and long travel front suspensions... by the later 90's most sleds were built with this in mind.

As for the recent weather- it has taken its toll. Corners that are exposed to the sun have broken through but are still passable. Road crossings are a little tougher as well. I am out on the trails tomorrow on a durability run and I will be putting on between 225-250 miles so I should have a better read shortly.

Jim, catch me on the trail tomorrow and I’ll pay for your sleds first fill-up… lol.

Safe sledding,
David K.

PS. I would like all snowmobilers to engage others to join in the fun, but please don’t feel as though they need to be at your speed or capacity. Respect their learning curve, as well… show them by example that “you only own one side of the trail”- the far right side… this is tougher to maintain than one thinks for even advanced and/or aggressive riders.

Dave, hows it going ? We've been out groomming the trails to make them smooth for everyone to enjoy up here. The trail south to Cotton is in perfect shape with plenty of Base and with the forcasted snow this week should be georgeous after grooming one more time after it snows, Hope to see ya on the trail or better yet go for a ride with ya later this winter...

Dave,
Just found your site. Awsome! I have been riding since 03 have introduced several of my Buds to the sport and just got my wife out for the first time last weekend. She just loved it. My two boys have also been riding with me over the past several year. My bro's and I have a cabin on Vermilion and thats our spot. I probebly average 1500 to 2000 miles a season, I've been out 3 time already this year and have logged about 600 to 700 miles. What a bonus year already. I will be heading up this weekend with a bunch of guys. Has the warm weather done any damage? Oh by the way if you see Pat or Cliff Tuuri walking by say hi from me. I will let you know how the weekend went.

Talk to you soon,
