The Trails are Awesome!

Well… trails were just awesome yesterday… and I mean awesome. There’s a 2-3-4″ soft fresh blanket on top a table-top like surface. I did not find any bad sections across the range on my 137 miles trek.

Unfortunately I did not see hardly another snowmobiler while riding. So I still have loads of free stuff like room nights, meals and fuel, etc. to dish out.

This Saturday BLADE Snowmobiles is sponsoring lunch at the Landing (Lake Vermilion) for those particpating in the United Way Winter Blast ride… so get on up to Fortune Bay, sign up for the ride (becuase its the right thing to do) and we’ll see you at the Landing.

How are the trails with the warmer weather? We are planning to ride out of chisholm starting saturday, will there be any snow?

    Hello Scott:

OK, here’s the skinny… last week end was warm and sunny so it has taken its toll in some areas, especially the unprotected areas. Wooded areas are good. The Taconite had some bald spots and a few rocks were exposed but it was rideable. Its sprinkling snow today with the prediction for more snow on Thursday so that should help.

As whole the conditions are fair but again need to look out for exposed earth here and there and my thoughts are this is the way it is until you get further east towards Isabella.

I should be out on the trails today and tomorrow testing and I’ll give some feedback by Thursday.

If you’re in the Eveleth area look us up and we’ll give you and your gang a tour of the BLADE and Teamfast facility.

    Ride safe, right right.

We rec’d some snow last night and it is still snowing albeit lightly, I estimate 2-3″ as of now depending where you are on the Range. We were out yesterday and the trails heading east from Eveleth were excellent (abit dry here and there but fun) even without this new snow. We were as far east as Isabella yesterday. The snow received last night is fairly dense so I believe it will provide the much needed lubrication (did finish off a set of hyfax yesterday) for the hyfax and engine cooling and it should stick around for awhile.

Chris, I would defintely bring your sleds north with you. Conditions can always be better but this time of year (my favorite riding time) with all the daylight sledding in the northland is hard to beat.

    So what trails are good…
Moose trail, Taconite Spur, Stony Spur, Tomahawk, Hawk’s trail. These we road yesterday. It was pretty good across the board with only a few rocks showing here and there but none to be concerned about. The sun was just cooking the surface a bit.

I’ll be out again today and over the weekend- I will be heading West towards Grand Rapids on Saturday, back in this area Sunday. So if you see me don’t forget to mention this IronRange.org website as I have some nice gifts to dole out as our way of saying thanks for coming north.

    Ride safe, ride right,
    David K.
